Area Grappler Shine At Day One Of State Championship Tournament

The All-Class High School Wrestling Tournament kicked off on Friday at the Metra In Billings. Grapplers from area schools took the mat hoping to cement their legacy as a State Champion Wrestler in the state. The Blue Ponies faired well in the first day of competition and find themselves amongst the top teams in Class A.

Thanks to a strong showing in the quarter finals, and the ‘wrestle back’ rounds, the Blue Ponies are in third place overall as a team headed into the second day of action.

Multiple area wrestlers will take the mat on Saturday in the semi-finals. Michael Chagnon, Riley Pleninger, Cameron Pleninger, Connor Harris, and Orion Thivierge will all make semi-final appearances for the Blue Ponies. In the Class B/C Tournament, Camryn Mears of Malta will also be in the semi-finals at 152 pounds.
