Champions Crowned In Montana High School State Softball Tournaments Saturday

The Montana High School Association State Softball Tournaments concluded on Saturday afternoon. A champion was crowned in the ‘AA’, ‘B’, and ‘B/C’ tournaments respectively.

Great Falls High was crowned state champions in the ‘AA’ bracket in Butte after they were able to defeat Billings Senior High by a final of 7-0 in the championship game. Great Falls advanced to the championship series by defeating Billings West in the third place game by a final of 13-0. They also staved off elimination by defeating Billings Senior 5-4 to force a game to decide the title.

The Belgrade Panthers won their second consecutive Class ‘A’ State Title in Polson by defeating the host Pirates by a final of 11-1. Polson advanced to the finals by winning the third place game over Hamilton-Darby by a final of 7-6. Belgrade advanced to the championship with a 10-3 win over the Broncs. Belgrade was the only team to remain unbeaten throughout the tournament.

Huntley Project hung on in the Championship game of the ‘B/C’ Tournament in Belgrade to take home the title in an 8-6 win over Florence-Carlton. The Falcons advanced to the championship by winning the third place game over Plains Hot Springs by a final of 12-2. The Red Devils were the lone unbeaten team in the tournament.
