The Montana District Volleyball Tournaments concluded on Saturday as teams from across the state competed to reach the State Tournament.
In the Class A Tournament, the Havre Blue Ponies were looking for a pair of wins to reach the championship round from the losers bracket. Havre’s run in the tournament came to an end however in there first game against Hardin by a final of 15-25,25-16, 25-22, 25-15. Dawson County was victorious in the third place match setting up a match up with Billings Central. The Rams claimed the District crown in a four set victory over the Red Devils.
Meanwhile in Cascade at the Class C tournament, the Chinook Sugarbeeters opened play in the losers bracket and was eliminated in a four set loss to North Star (25-23, 25-20,13-25, 25-10. Belt found itself in the championship round after a win over Simms in the third place match. Belt took the District title in a four set victory over Fort Benton in the championship match.
Lastly in the District B tournament in Wolf Point, Glasgow advanced to the championship round in the third place match in a victory over Shelby and went on to face Chouteau. Chouteau defeated Glasgow in straight sets to take the District B title.
The Montana State Volleyball Tournament will begin on Thursday November 14 on the Campus of Montana State University in Bozeman. Despite the loss Saturday, the Blue Ponies are in the field in the State A Tournament and will face Corvallis at 4 p.m. Thursday.
