Divisional Volleyball tournaments across the state got underway on Thursday afternoon. In the Eastern A tournament, The host Blue Ponies found themselves in a tightly contested first round match against Hardin. Havre ultimately fell in a five set loss (25-21, 20-25, 18-25, 25-18, 15-12).
Hardin will move on to face Billings Central who defeated Fergus in the quarterfinal. That match is set to begin at 12:30. Dawson County, and Laurel were the other two teams to advance to the quarter finals on Thursday and will face off at 2:15 Friday. The Blue Ponies remain alive in the double elimination tournament and will face Fergus at 10:45 on Friday morning in the second match of the day. Park, and Custer County will also go head-to-head at 9 a.m. in the losers bracket.
In the Northern C Divisional in Cascade the Chinook Sugarbeeters were able to advance in a four set victory over Highwood-Geraldine (25-27, 25-16, 25-14, 25-20). The Beeters will face Fort Benton who defeated Augusta on Friday in the quarter finals at 10 a.m. In the other quarter final match, Simms will square off with Belt. Power-Dutton-Brady, Agusta, Geraldine, and North Star are all still alive and will be in action in the losers bracket.
The Northern B Divisional in Wolf Point saw Choteau, and Shelby advance to the semi final match with victories over Malta, and Harlem. Those two squads will face off on Friday morning in the first game of the day in the losers bracket. Glasgow will await the winner of the match between Great Falls Central, and Wolf Point on the other side of the losers bracket.
