End Racism Through Unity Event Scheduled for Fourth of July

BOX ELDER, Mont. (NMB) – An event has been scheduled on the Rocky Boy’s Reservation for July 4th to help improve race and community relations on the Hi-Line.

The event, called Black Out Racism and Unite, will feature a 5k, a pet parade, food trucks and a firework display.

Organizer Melody Bernard says all are welcome to attend this free event.

“Come on out, have some fun, get some exercise in, bring your pets. We’re involving everyone in the family, including pets. And the fireworks demo is going to be explosive. It’s going to be beautiful.”

Alvin Windyboy will be giving the key note speech, while Rocky Boy Tribal Police members will be on hand.

“They are going to be providing the feed. So they’ll be bringing us the sub sandwiches, chips and what have you, which is great. And they’ll be there on site to not only provide security and safety for the runners and walkers, but they’ll also be visiting for the children.”

The event begins at 5 PM on Saturday at the iResponse Building, located at 9640 Upper Box Elder Road.

This is a drug and alcohol free event.
