CONRAD, Mont. (NMB) – Two people from Columbia Falls were killed in a four-vehicle crash on I-15 on Monday afternoon in Pondera County.
The MHP crash report says that at 1:15 PM, a Peterbilt Tractor & Lode King Trailer traveling southbound at mile marker 344 slowed down when they entered a smoke cloud caused by a controlled burn in the area. The tractor was rear-ended by a freightliner, which caused an accordion effect that led to two more cars rear ending.

Four people were injured, including the driver of the freightliner, a 51-year-old from Calgary. The other three injuries were the people in the final vehicle in the pile-up, a Mazda CX-5. The occupants, were three women from Colorado Springs, Colorado. Two are 30-years-old and one is 60-years-old.
Those injured were transported to either Conrad Medical or Benefis Hospital.
Alcohol, drugs, or excessive speed are not suspected factors in the crash. The road was bare at the time of the incident.
