Functional Exercise set for Thursday by BOR

(Havre) The Bureau of Reclamation’s Montana Area Office will be holding a Functional Exercise involving Fresno Dam and Reservoir, as well as downstream populations, on Thursday February 22nd.

While the event will have no immediate effect on the public this is a exercise meant to keep said facilities safe. New Media Broadcasters spoke with Ryan Madsen with the Bureau of Reclamation to ask what the exercise entails and why they do it.

“So what happens is, every four years we do this training. One is called a functional the other is called a tabletop. What we do is we review the emergency action plan that [Bureau of] Reclamation has at the facility, and then we kind of do a mock exercise and have everyone go through the emergency action plan. and re-familiarize themselves with it”
