From the vineyards of the Northern California Wine Country, Geoff Safford made the trek north to the Hi-Line to grow in his career in broadcasting. Safford comes to New Media Broadcasters with years of experience in sports media, and broadcasting. He looks forward to bringing sports action on the Hi-Line into the living rooms of many across the region.
Safford began his journey in sports media in high school broadcasting high school football games locally on television, and on the radio. His passion especially for radio grew through these years.
The Healdsburg, CA native continued his studies of sports media and broadcasting at the University of Oregon and Dominican University of California. He was a member of the sports department at both campus radio stations, and covered Division I, and Division II athletics at the two universities respectively. In his time at Dominican, he was the lead play-by-play radio broadcaster for the Penguin’s Men’s and Women’s basketball teams. He was also the voice of the Dominican Softball team.
After graduating from Dominican in 2016, Safford made the transition to professional sports. He spent the 2016 and 2017 seasons with the Sonoma Stompers Professional Baseball Club of the Pacific Association of Professional Baseball Clubs. After spending 2016 as a media relations assistant, he was promoted to Director of Broadcasting & Media relations in 2017. In 2018, Safford transitioned from the Stompers, to the Napa Silverados Professional Baseball Club where he held the Director of Broadcasting role.
When Safford is not in the studio, or up in the booth, you can usually find him somewhere in the outdoors. He enjoys fishing, hunting, and exploring the surroundings. He is also a great cook that knows his way around the kitchen.
