The Havre basketball teams swept the Fergus Golden Eagles on Friday night at the Blue Pony Corral. The girls won, (63-38), while the boys used an 11-0 run to win by 15, (66-51)
For the girls’ (12-3), they had three seniors honored before the game as Kyanna Jarvis, Emilee Chambliss, and Shea Reber were recognized for their years with the program. Jarvis finished the game with four points, while Chambliss put in eight of her own. Havre used a (21-4) 2nd quarter to build up their lead with sophomore forward Ariana Gary scoring 10 of her 18 points in the frame. Sophomore guard Amaya Jarvis also poured in 13 points in the last home game of the season.
For the boys’ (11-4), they were on fire from downtown, hitting seven first half three-pointers. Junior guard Matt Huse connected on five of those and had 17 after the first 16 minutes of play. With his strong start to the game and senior guard Jackson Headdress closing it out with 12 of his 18 in the final two quarters, Havre was able to overcome the Fergus run to cut the lead to four points late in the fourth quarter.
Havre will be on the road for the rest of the regular season before divisionals. Their first road contest will be on Saturday as they take on the Sidney Eagles.
