Havre FFA hosts district competition, sending students to state competition

(Havre) Havre High School hosted their first ever district competition on Tuesday, February 6th, with over 100 students participating and many more attending.

Leadership development events took center stage said Saralyn Standley, ag-educator and FFA advisor at Havre High School. These events are things like giving speeches, taking part in interviews, or giving mock sales pitches for agriculturally related products.

Standley says these events are important for the skills and connections they bring to students.

“One of the most valuable parts of these competitions is being able to connect with other students who share the same passion for agriculture and building some of those life-long connections where once they grow up they’re going to be able to meet people across the state that they recognize from FFA. Another portion of that is being able to develop some of those soft skills. Like I mentioned with this competition they focused on leadership and being able to interact with other people and being able to speak in front of others”

Standley is also sending several teams to state competition:

Mechanics- Reinhard Bold, Landon Molitor, Ethan Stortz, Jevin Jenkins
Vet Science- Callie Bebee, Clara Holland, Lynsie Molitor
Sales- Jevin Jenkins, Maisie Ford, Shyla Solomon, Reinhard Bold
Employment Skills- Gracee Hencz, Emma Bitz, Clara Haslem
