HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A man is facing a pair of felony criminal endangerment charges after allegedly engaging in a high speed pursuit in Havre last month.
Jalen Jaret Watson, a.k.a. JJ Nault, has also been charged with the misdemeanor of fleeing or eluding a Peace Officer.
Court documents allege that at around 11:23 am on January 5th, Havre Police Officer Brandon Olson responded to a report of trespassing in a parking lot at the 1300 block of Jefferson Avenue.
Olson arrived at the scene and observed the Ford Taurus that matched the reported description and pursued the vehicle when it began to travel southbound on Washington Avenue.
The Officer activated his emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop at the 900 block of 15th Avenue West. As Olson approached the Taurus on foot, Watson, who had outstanding warrants for his arrest out of Havre City Court, accelerated and drove off at a high speed.
Watson allegedly drove over 100 miles an hour on Old Post Road and drove into oncoming traffic in a no-passing zone. Officers were unable to apprehend Watson, who was identified as the driver by the reporting party, who has known Watson for several years and saw him in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.
An arrest warrant was formally issued on February 12th, with bail set at $10,000. Watson is not listed among inmates in the Hill County Detention Center.
Watson’s arraignment is scheduled for March 1st in Hill County District Court.
