The Chinook High School Basketball teams faced off with North Star on Friday evening in Chinook’s final home games of the season. Both schools came away with a victory as the two sides split the 9C double-header.
On the girls side, North Star turned in a dominant second half performance to pull away for a 66-26 victory. Lily Surber lead the Sugarbeeters in scoring on the night finishing with 7 points.
The boys game came down to the final possession as North Star erased a double digit deficit to take a six point lead in the fourth quarter. Behind a late push from senior Hunter Neibauer, Chinook was able to hold off the Knights in the final seconds in a 56-54 win.
Ethan Bell came out firing in the first half scoring 22 points. The junior guard finished with a game high 23 points. Neibauer also chipped in with 17.
Next up for Chinook will be their final regular season test against Fort Benton on Saturday. The girls will be on the floor at 6:00 with the boys to follow at 7:30. Both games will be on KOJM and hilinetoday.com.
