HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Great Northern Fair Board discussed at their online meeting Tuesday, May 19 that despite Montana entering Phase Two in June, they’re still not sure whether to hold or cancel the 2020 fair.
During the meeting, the board noted that they can’t plan for the unknown as Montana could as easily return to Phase One as it could enter Phase Three in the coming weeks.
The board also discussed that the proper implementation of COVID-19 guidelines at the fair would be very difficult and vendors and the like would have to adhere strictly to the county’s health department’s guidelines.
Though other fairs around the state have decided to cancel in light of COVID-19 restrictions, the fair board came to the conclusion that they will postpone this decision a fortnight until they can acquire more substantial information.
The fair board plans on making their final decision at a special meeting they have scheduled for June 2.
