Growth Through Agriculture Loans and Grants Awarded

HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – The Montana Department of Agriculture (MDA) has announced the 2021 recipients of Growth Through Agriculture (GTA) loans and grants.

The GTA program was created by the state legislature to provide funding for new agricultural products and processes. Grant recipients must provide matching funds.

Recipients from north-central Montana:

  • Dr. Casey Solomon from Milk River Reproduction in Havre received a $50,000 grant to build an International export-certified reproductive technology center and veterinary clinic
  • High Horizon Gardens of Havre received a $37,750 grant to establish Hi-Line Hydroponics Urban Market in downtown
  • Stricks Ag LLC in Chester received a $50,000 grant and $50,000 loan to expand their value-added chickpea sizing project with the purchase of bins and a tower
  • Wickens Ranch of Hilger received a $6,000 grant to execute an online advertising campaign for their direct-to-consumer arm

Funding is determined by the seven member Agricultural Development Council, which met virtually last month to hear from the applicants.
