YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK (NMB) – Yellowstone National Park officials say a 25-year-old Ohio woman was gored by a bison on Memorial Day after getting within ten feet of the animal.
The woman was gored and tossed 10 feet in the air after approaching a bison as it neared the boardwalk at Black Sand Basin, just north of Old Faithful.
The woman sustained puncture wounds, among other injuries, and was transported to a local hospital.
Park regulations state that visitors should always stay at least 25 yards from bison.
The incident remains under investigation, and park officials say two other individuals were also within 25 yards of the bison.
