The Department of Veterans Affairs has announced that the Great Plains Service Center in Rocky Boy has been awarded a $750,000 suicide prevention grant for Fiscal Year 2027. This crucial funding will directly benefit at-risk veterans and their families across Blaine, Chouteau, Hill, Glacier, Phillips and Pondera counties served by the center.
The award is part of the Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program. Authorized under the Commander John Scott Hannon Veterans Mental Health Care Improvement Act, this initiative expands suicide prevention beyond clinical walls. It focuses heavily on social factors like economic hardship, social connection, and health care access.
