POLSON, Mont. (NMB) – The Polson Police Department says a man was arrested following an armed standoff on Wednesday night.
Lake County Dispatch received a call at around 6:30 PM about a woman being held against her will in the Bellevue Trailer Court, adding that the man was armed and had fired several rounds inside the trailer.
The Trailer Court was evacuated by Police and a standoff ensued as the suspect, identified as Edward Hardy, barricaded doors and windows.
An officer was able to negotiate the release of the victim, who was then checked by medical personnel.
Hardy then started setting debris on fire and throwing it out the trailer. He then tried to escape by crawling out a window and entering a vehicle, but he was apprehended by authorities after being tased.
A search of Hardy’s residence revealed firearms, a cache of ammo, and numerous other weapons strategically placed throughout the trailer. Hardy was arrested for aggravated assault with a weapon with further charges pending the conclusion of the ongoing investigation.
A local SWAT team was among authorities that provided assistance.
No injuries occurred as a result of the standoff.
