HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Due to the ongoing pandemic, this year’s annual Bear Paw Development meeting will be scaled back and conducted in a virtual format.
Executive Director Paul Tuss says there will be no keynote speaker, and it will look more like a regular business meeting with the Board of Directors and staff.
“We obviously will be rolling out our annual report and our numbers associated with the work that we did in 2020. But it simply won’t have the larger feel of an actual in-person event, and that’s obviously because of the pandemic.”
Tuss says the annual report shows that Bear Paw Development provided significant assistance to the community in 2020.
“One of the things that we like to highlight in a more 30,000 foot view perspective are the investment numbers that we were able to coordinate for the communities we serve here in northern Montana over the 12 months of 2020. And when we look back at 2020, we were able to somehow, someway, bring in over $12.2 million in economic and community development funding for both public and private projects in our region. We were able to assist the local government to retain or creat 59 new jobs here in northern Montana. And importantly, especially for our local government folks, for every dollar we receive from our local government folks in terms of investments, we were able to leverage that with an additional $116 from other sources. So it’s just a good look back at what we were able to do, who we were able to serve and the frankly, dollars that we were able to bring into our region to assist with local government infrastructure financing as well as small business start-ups.”
The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 4th at 11:30 AM.
