(Havre) Recently, MSU Northern garnered more than $32 million dollars for renovation and projects, due to the passing of House Bill 5.
Chancellor Greg Kegel spoke of the first phase of the Aurora Complex project, and how the new funding will continue the progress of the project.
“That started nine years ago with our planning on what is it going to take for this campus to be competitive, how do we build an infrastructure on this campus that will attract a student that’s interested in a comprehensive four-year program. And we knew that we had to make some changes, we had to make some additions. This was one of the initiatives, one of the nine that we established way back nine years ago. And as an initiative, it was the biggest one because it involved the most money. The football field, now Tilleman Field was part of that and we knew that if we could get that phase done it would give us the momentum to carry into the larger phase, but we still had to figure out where are you going to raise, and how are you going to get twenty five million and to go locally and say that we need to do a fundraiser for a twenty five million dollar building. That’s so monumental that I just knew that we couldn’t do that. The community has done so much in the past that the first phase was three and a half million and almost all of that came locally.”-Kegel
