Chinook, MT – As the month of August comes to a close, Chinook high school football looks at season opener with new “hunger”.
Chinook SugarBeeter football ended the 2024 season with a quarter finals loss in the state C 8-man playoffs to Flint Creek Co-op, 28-6. The loss came after a first-round win over Valley Christen 40-24.
In 2025, the team looks to build on the momentum of a playoff win to start this season strong and make a playoff push.
Head coach of the SugarBeeters, Mike Jones, said his team learned a lot from last year and how it has helped them in preseason practice.
“We got our first playoff win since I’ve been here and I think you can see that hunger in the kids. It’s almost an expectation now where they know what they have to do to get to that next level and the preparation for it. I think we have seen since the beginning of the summer with the weight room and the intensity.” Coach Jones said. “We’ve had guys step up that we didn’t expect to step up, and I think that’s because of a little bit of a taste, getting that win in the first round. I like where their expectations are and the hunger they have.”
All the intensity, hard work, and hunger from the SugarBeeters will be on display Friday night in Chinook against Choteau. When Chinook last played Choteau, The Bulldogs beat the SugarBeeters 34-18.
