CONRAD, Mont. (NMB) – Conrad Public Schools is the latest school district on the Hi-Line to temporarily halt in-person learning due to COVID-19.
A press release from Superintendent Sean Beddow says that over the weekend, they were notified that several staff members and students had tested positive for COVID-19.
Many of the District’s students and staff were in contact with the positive individuals during the period of possible exposure. The District is working with the Pondera County Health Department on contact tracing and identifying other possible sources of exposure.
School buildings will remain closed through this Tuesday, including a suspension of all activities and athletics. This will allow authorities and administration more time to determine the extent of the outbreak and allow for deep cleaning.
Current recommendations are that the District transition to remote learning, with a tentative return to school on October 12th in order to help stem the outbreak. Remote instruction will begin on Wednesday, September 30th.
The Pondera County Health Department reported 11 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, putting them at 28 active cases of the virus. It is unclear how many are connected to the outbreak at the District.
