(Billings) United States Attorney Jesse Laslovich recently announced that the Department of Justice has awarded over $600,000 thousand dollars to the State of Montana to fund agencies and organizations that support youth and their families. According to Laslovich the grant will support efforts to help youth from ending up in the criminal justice system and improve their chances for success if they do, and he says the grant is administered by the Montana Board of Crime Control.
“They administer the grant that goes out to various local groups who are charged with helping youth who have been identified as at risk. So, our goal is to get the money into those organizations hands, of course they have private money as well, with the hope that people don’t ultimately end up in the Criminal Justice System.”-Laslovich
The grant is from the Fiscal Year 2023 Title II Formula Grants Program, the Office of Justice Programs’ office of Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention.
The Montana Board of Crime Control anticipates awarding funding to 14 agencies across Montana including the Boys and Girls Club in Havre and the Chippewa Cree Tribal Court in Box Elder.
