HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – District 4 HRDC is hosting a Stay-At-Home Soiree to raise money for the Havre Food Bank.
Administrative Officer Cassy Springer said the fundraiser is set to replace the Tacos and Tunes event they normally host in May because of COVID-19.
“We were disappointed when figured out that we couldn’t hold it this year. So, instead we decided to do a mail-in fundraiser and I wanted to do something that was a little bit different than the normal mail-in fundraiser. So, I thought of the Stay-At-Home Soiree and I thought it would be best to raise money for the Havre Community Food Bank which HRDC runs. Because right now it’s even more so in demand than it usually is, and our community could really use the food bank services right now due to the COVID-19 outbreak.”
Springer said they decided to weave in some much-needed humor in the soiree and hope to get people smiling again.
“I think we can all use a laugh right now. What’s going on is extremely serious, but I think laughter truly is the best medicine in times like these and it’s important to try and keep your spirits up because it can be pretty heavy.”
The fundraiser flier states, “Cocktail Hour begins whenever you’d like (we don’t judge). Dinner will be served once the microwave dings. Dress code is up to you: pajamas, slippers – whatever is comfy.”
