CHINOOK, Mont. (NMB) –The Friends of the Chinook Pool and Park Foundation are set to hold a Brewfest this Saturday at Sweet Memorial Park beginning at 4 PM.
Foundation President Heather DePriest says this fundraiser will raise money for a multi-million dollar project to upgrade Ensign Sweet Memorial Park and the Chinook City Pool.
“Right now we’ve had to remove a lot of playground equipment (from the Park) that has been aged over time and has become unsafe. So the Park is in need of upgraded equipment as well as a lot of different upgrades in reference to its drainage and things of that nature.”
As for the Pool, DePriest says it has been deteriorating over time, and she would like to see it turn into an attraction that brings in people from all across the Hi-Line.
“We are looking to put in a splash pad, tower water slides, and also looking to upgrade the pool itself, which is seeing a lot of despair over the years,” DePriest says. “It needs a new gutter system and we’re also redoing a lot of the pool and chemical system aspects of it as well.”
A mug and two drink tickets will cost $15. Drink tickets will cost $2 each or $10 for six tickets. There will also be a silent auction, and anyone interested in donating can contact Tammy Edwards at 399-1428.
Music will be provided by the Stonebroke String Band.
There will be numerous types of beer on hand, as well as non-alcoholic beverages.
There will also be a barbecue at the event provided by the Blaine County Wildlife Museum.
Along with fundraisers, the Foundation is hoping to raise funds via grants and bonds.
