HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – Governor Greg Gianforte has provided the public with a readout from a DNRC fire briefing he received Monday afternoon.
As of 3 PM on Monday, there are 11 active large fire incidents in Montana. The top priority is currently the Horsethief Fire west of Roundup, which has destroyed one residence and is at 305 acres with 80 percent containment. The largest active fire is the Trail Creek Fire west of Wisdom, which is at just over 57,000 acres with 75 percent containment.
To date, 54 residences in Montana have been lost this year due to fires, which have burned more than 895,000 acres in total.
