HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A Havre man has been sentenced to 30 years in the Montana State Prison, none suspended and with no parole restriction, after pleading guilty to four felonies.
Joshua Glen Reid, born in 1979, was sentenced on Monday by Judge Kaydee Snipes-Ruiz in Hill County District Court after previously pleading guilty to the felonies of partner or family member assault (3rd or subsequent offense), escape, attempt to commit aggravated assault, and stalking.
The plea agreement spans three separate cases where Reid was charged with a total of 11 felonies and two misdemeanors. One of the cases included allegations of domestic abuse, the second related to him attempting to escape custody by running from Northern Montana Hospital, and the third was due to him violating a no-contact order while in jail.
In the plea agreement, Reid admitted to the following:
I voluntarily and intelligently admit that on or about June 8, 2020, in Hill County, Montana, I knowingly caused bodily injury to a partner or family member. I have been convicted of this offense on at least three prior occasions: on March 28, 2011. In Hill County District Court; on March 7, 2007 in Hill County Justice Court; and on February 3, 2006 in Havre City Court.
I voluntarily and intelligently admit that on or about June 12, 2020, in Hill County, Montana, I purposely eluded official detention by the use of force, physical violence, or a weapon. In the course of eluding official detention, I purposely attempted to cause serious bodily injury to another, and in doing so I knowingly caused reasonable apprehension of serious bodily injury in a peace officer by use of a weapon.
I voluntarily and intelligently admit that on or about June 11, 2020, in Hill County, Montana, I purposely violated a no contact order by engaging in a course of conduct directed at a specific person, and knew or should have known that the course of conduct would cause a reasonable person to fear for their own safety or
suffer other substantial emotional distress.
In the sentence, Snipes-Ruiz also designated Reid as a persistent felony offender. As per the terms of the plea agreement, the charges that Reid did not plead guilty to were dismissed at sentencing.
Reid will receive 270 days credit for time served. He has been in the Hill County Detention Center since June 9th, 2020.
