HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Havre Public School Board held a special meeting on Thursday evening and appointed Garrit Ophus as their newest Trustee.
This comes after Scott Adams stepped down from the Board. Adams joined the Board this past December but resigned earlier this month, citing the need to do what’s best for his family.
Ophus is a System Administrator/Assistant Director of Information Systems at Northern Montana Health Care and has lived in Havre for the last 15 years after growing up in Big Sandy.
This trustee seat will be up for election for a three-year term in May, and Ophus stated that he has “every intent” in running to retain the seat.
Ophus was appointed by the Board on a 6-1 vote, beating out Michele Holden, the other finalist. Holden owns and operates a private consulting practice in Havre where she mainly treats children.
