The Havre Softball Team is coming off of a split performance this weekend defeating Polson (6-2) before having their 9-game winning streak snapped in a (10-1) loss to Frenchtown.
The Frenchtown loss came as the 2nd game of the day for the Blue Ponies in a back to back. When asked if fatigue could play a factor, Head Coach Tony Vigliotti admits it can sometimes be a factor, but credits the level of competition from Frenchtown and how Havre needs to be prepared for those situations:
Coach Tony Vigliotti – “Thought we ran out of gas a little bit, in that Frenchtown game. Obviously, they’re a very good team. But, those kinds of tournaments simulate divisional and state tournament play, and you’re gonna get into situations where you’re gonna have to play back to back games like that. So, no excuses, but we’ve gotta find a way to have the energy that we need to have when we run into those back to back type situations.”
With Senior Night fast approaching Saturday May 6th, Coach Vigliotti spoke about what he has been most impressed with so far in the 11-2 start to the season:
Coach Tony Vigliotti – “Just proud of this group’s effort. They give effort every day, they compete every day. They like to win, and it doesn’t matter who gets the credit, they just want to go out and compete, and win. So always proud of their effort, always proud of their competitiveness, and they’re all just great kids.”
The Blue Ponies host Glasgow Friday at 3PM before Senior Day Saturday against Sidney.
