HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Hill County Commissioners held a public meeting on Tuesday to discuss the latest on a grant project to improve the electrical and communication systems in the Detention Center.
The Detention Center’s current electrical and communication systems were installed in 1999 and officials say they have suffered from recent malfunctions and are in need of replacement.
Back in February, Hill County was awarded a $270,000 grant from the Department of Commerce through the Delivering Local Assistance program.
The project will cost an estimated $279,424, with Hill County providing $7,500 of the funding.
During the meeting, a representative from Bear Paw Development provided an environmental impact statement, as required by law. This project is not expected to have any environmental impacts, as it will have the same footprint.
The Hill County Commissioners are expected to put the project out for a bid in the coming weeks.
The hope is for the project to be completed by the end of the calendar year.
