(Havre) – On Monday, House Bill 5, which authorizes funding for major repair and capital development projects for facilities across the state became law. Montana State University – Northern received over thirty-one million dollars in funding from the state for repairs and new campus construction.
$25,585,240 was allocated by the state for the Aurora Center health and recreation complex. $25 Million dollars is for building the complex and $585,240 for the operations and maintenance of the Aurora Complex. The health and recreation complex is the 2nd phase of the Aurora Complex. Phase one was completed in August of 2020 when the Northern Alumni Foundation raised over $3 Million Dollars for to build what is now known as Tilleman Field. In a press release, MSU-Northern says it will be at least three years before the second phase of the Aurora complex will be completed. They say it will take one year to plan and two years to build the complex.
Other projects on the MSU-Northern campus that funding from House Bill 5 will cover are $2,400,000 for renovations in Pershing Hall, $1,907,320 for an HVAC upgrade in Brockman Center, $800,000 for and HVAC and lighting upgrade in the Electronics Technology building, $675,000 for the Vande Bogart Library Roof Replacement, $400,000 for a campus EMS Building Controls Upgrade Project, and $400,000 for the Metals Technology Building Roof Project.
