Havre, MT – Every year Montana State University-Northern Lights basketball hosts a youth summer league camp. This year’s camp begins on Monday June 1 and will take place every Monday until July 6.
Lights basketball head coach Shawn Huse has created ways to make the camp challenging, and fun while teaching the important aspects of the game.
“Typically, each year, as an example, the first night is a no dribble night. So, a lot of our drill work is stuff that’s moving without the ball and making reads. Then when we get into the playing, it’s being able to play without having to use a dribble. We push them a little bit but then we let them have fun in the competitions.”
The league is for grades four through 12 with age groups being divided into the leagues. fourth through sixth is youth league. seventh through nineth is the intermediate league and tenth through 12 is the high school league.
The camp charges $140 per participant and has a max of 40 participants per age group. The summer league includes prizes and a reversable jersey that every player can take home at the end of camp.
You can register at Sport Camps – Montana State University Northern Athletics.
