KALISPELL, Mont. (NMB) – The Flathead Beacon reports that a Kalispell man has been sentenced to 55 years in prison after being found guilty of deliberate homicide for fatally beating a man with a cement brick in July 2019.
Leigh Garrett Medina, 46, was sentenced Thursday in Flathead County District Court. Medina initially entered a not guilty plea, but changed his mind three days into the October trial following witness testimony.
Medina admitted to using a cement brick to kill 67-year-old Paul David Kellenberger inside the victim’s Kalispell home.
In handing down the lengthy sentence, Judge Dan Wilson cited Medina’s extensive criminal history, which includes prior convictions for domestic violence and criminal endangerment.
