Northstars open Conference Play with Win

(Havre) The Havre Northstars opened up North District play at Legion Field on Friday night with a 5-3 win over the Great Falls Chargers. Havre got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning with a Tyson Brandon Triple and a Quin Elliott sacrifice fly, to take a 1-0 lead after one inning.

 

The Chargers tied it up at 1 run apiece in the top of the third, but Havre answered with two runs in the bottom of the third on RBI singles from Quinn Elliott and Conner Essert to take a 3-1 lead. Great Falls scored two runs in the top of the 5th inning to tie the score 3-3. The Northstars would take the lead for good in the bottom of the 5th after Archer Sawdy singled, scoring Tanner Delarosa. Havre added one more run in the bottom of the 6th and went on to win by a final of 5-3.

 

Quinn Elliott got the win on the mound going 5 and 2/3 innings, striking out eight and walking one. Chasson Mader got the save, pitching the final inning and 1/3rd of scoreless baseball.

 

Elliott also drove in two runs for the Northstars who are now 4 and 5 on the year and 1-0 in the North District.

 

Havre will be back on the diamond Wednesday June 4th for a North District double header against the Tri-County Cardinals
