The Havre Northstars traveled to battle the Medicine Hat Knights in a double-header on Tuesday evening. The Northstars are coming off an impressive previous week, going (5-2) during a seven-game stretch, including multiple games that saw Havre score 12+ runs.
In game one the hot batting did not cool off on Tuesday for the Northstars, defeating Medicine Hat (17-11) in an offensive explosion by both teams. Havre started the game off gaining a (2-0) lead at the top of the first inning with the Knights responding with one run of their own. Havre went on to score 1 run in the 2nd while the Knights scored one run in the 3rd to set up a (3-2) Northstars lead heading into the 4th.
The Northstars took control in the 4th and 5th innings, going on a 5-0 run during that stretch to build their lead up to (8-2) heading into the 6th. Both offenses exploded scoring eight runs each in the 6th inning, with both teams also scoring one run in the 7th to end the game (17-11) Northstars. Havre saw the ball well, racking up 12 hits on the game. Brody Nanini, Drake Berreth, and Conner McKay all managed multiple hits in the victory.
In game two Havre continued their offensive assault winning the ballgame (13-3). The game started off as the previous one ended, both team’s offenses opening up hot with two runs scored each in the 1st inning. The Northstars began to pull away in the 2nd, scoring three runs thanks to a Conner McKay triple and Jevin Jenkins lined out driving run. The Northstars went on to score three runs in the 3rd and exploded for five runs in the 4th inning to seal the game.
The Nothstars continue to improve at the right time of the season, winning seven of their last nine games, and improving to (15-10-1) on the season.
