HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Hill County Council on Aging would like to alert the public to a new scam trying to take advantage of people who have recently received the COVID-19 vaccine.
Marci Bergren of the Hill County Council on Aging says the scam comes in the form of an email claiming to come from Pfizer, with a message that they could be awarded money for completing a survey.
“But they are asking you for all kinds of information if you click the survey button and go into it. So watch the addresses of any emails and don’t click on anything in them, just delete them.”
Bergren says falling victim to this scam can lead to serious consequences.
“Some of the emails will corrupt your computer, some of them are to get your information. And they end up stealing your identity. So be very, very careful on any emails you’re opening.”
As of early Friday afternoon, Bergren says she had already spoken with three area residents who have received one of these scam emails.
Bergren says the only post-vaccine survey people should complete are ones provided directly by those administering the shots.
