Pony Boys Fall to Billings Central

(NMB) The Havre Blue Ponies Boys basketball team fell to Billings Central on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 78-70. The Rams started the game quick, jumping out to a nine-point lead, but the Ponies battled back to hold a 18-17 lead at the first quarter break. Havre was out scored in the second quarter 21 to 15 and trailed at the half by seven 40 to 33. The Ram’s Darcy Merchant came out hot in the 3rd quarter scoring 12 points and the Rams lead after three quarters was 62 to 53 and the Billings Central would hang on for the 8-point victory. Havre’s Tre Gary lead all scorers with 29 points in the game. Merchant was the leading scorer for the Rams with 25. Havre is now 8 and 3 on the year. The Ponies will be at home at Thursday and Friday vs Dawson County and Hardin. You can hear both games on KOJM.
