HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Matt Rosendale, Republican candidate for Montana’s lone U.S. House seat, campaigned in Havre on Tuesday afternoon.
Rosendale, currently Montana’s State Auditor and Insurance Commissioner, held a meet-and-greet at the local Republican headquarters.
“We’re able to get out and do a little bit of campaigning. Trying to keep our groups small, trying to follow the proper social distancing and safety requirements, but it’s nice just to get out and see things.”
Rosendale says that he believes he could lend a voice to the agriculture industry in Congress.
“Agriculture is still our number one industry. And while the President has an eye on it, I think it’s going to be good, and I could make a good contribution to the United States Congress to make sure that somebody that is this close to the agriculture community actually has a voice here.”
Rosendale was endorsed by President Donald Trump prior to the Primary Election, and he says he intends on continuing to use that endorsement to boost his campaign.
“He basically has my back and I have his ear. So when we start talking about these major issues whether it’s the St. Mary’s Water Project or the management of our national forests, that I have that kind of a relationship with the President that we’re going to be able to sit down and make sure those things are viewed with the best interests of Montana in mind.”
Rosendale is facing off against Democrat Kathleen Williams in the upcoming General Election.
Williams does not have any campaign events scheduled on the Hi-Line at this time.
