(Harlowton) – The Judith-Musselshell Ranger District plans to conduct a prescribed understory burning this spring near Sapphire Village, as conditions allow.
The burn will take place on about 1200 acres of Forest Service land. Those around Middle Fork Trail, Judith Cabin, and Sapphire Village may see and smell smoke. The effort is being made to reduce hazardous fuels from the area, with a secondary effect of returning nutrients to the soil, eventually leading to better forage for wildlife.
