SugerBeeter Victory

Chinook, Mt – Friday night Chinook opened up the season at home against a Choteau. The SugerBeeters took down the Bulldogs 28-26 in an electric back and forth ball game.

Chinook entered halftime down 20-14 but came out in third quarter and scored two touchdowns taking a 28-20 lead. Choteau scored late in the third quarter but could not convert in the two-point attempt.

Head Coach of the SugerBeeters, Mike jones, expressed post-game what it means to open the season on a high note against a good team.

”Pretty awesome, a game like that was close. We test the resolve of our team. We had a couple guys go down and have to sub out here and there. We had a lot of guys step up. We had a couple guys step up play tonight that hadn’t taken any reps at the positions we threw them into this week in practice. Pretty darn impressive I’d say so I was happy.” Coach Jones Said.

The Chinook defense forced four interceptions and one fumble to help secure the victory. Coach Jones knew those turnovers were keys in this game. “We get our pride stickers for defensive turnovers but its a whole unit, and so what I think is, as a unit we rally within 5 our four yards of the ball so I think we rallied well, and we created pressure which takes that off our DB’s. And they have good receivers they made some really good plays, and so for our D-line to be able to create some of that I thought was instrumental.” Jones said.

The SugerBeeters look to stay unbeaten at home on Friday against Centerville, who is jumping up to 8-man football this season. Kickoff is at 7p.m. and you can listen to live coverage from New Media Broadcasters on KRYK.
