HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Havre Police Department is investigating after a small fire was reported at Rotary Park on Saturday evening.
The Havre Fire Department was dispatched to the park at 11:15 PM on Saturday after bystanders spotted a bottle containing a combustible liquid and cloth under the wooden train on the playground.
Assistant Fire Chief Nathan Courtnage says bystanders were able to move the lit bottle away from the equipment, and the Fire Department used a fire extinguisher to put it out.
No damage or injuries have been reported at this time.
The investigation is being handled by the Havre Police Department. Assistant Police Chief Jason Barkus says the fire is definitely suspicious and looks to have been intentional.
It is unclear exactly what liquid was in the bottle. Barkus says no arrests have been made, and there is no danger to the public.
