HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The results are in from United Way of Hill County’s online auction fundraiser.
Treasurer Kristi Peterson says they raised nearly $6,500 for their 10 funded partners through the auction held on Facebook.
“We decided to give it a shot and wing it. And we were so pleased to have the support that we received from the donors and bidders. It turned out to be something we were really happy with.”
The two highest selling items were a personal crab boil for eight ($1,000) and a dinner for 10 put on by Montana Style Events ($1,600).
“It is a beautiful dinner and a beautiful place to have a dinner. So we do hope those 10 people get to enjoy that evening, and we can’t thank them enough for their donations.”
Peterson says although the online auction worked well, she hopes they are able to hold it in-person next year.
“I know that there are a ton of organizations that have had to set aside their regular events this year. Like them, United Way is really hoping we can do our event again next year like we always have – live, with people sitting at tables and enjoying a great dinner. But I guess we’ll have to see. And we will continue to be creative so we can raise money for our funded partners. That’s our job and we’re committed to doing it. That’s what we have to do. But honestly, we’re really hoping that we can go back to normal next year.”
Peterson says they are planning on holding more fundraising events in the coming months, including their letter sending campaign and a series of raffles.
