Woman Killed in Hypothermia Death Identified

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Hill County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the women involved in an apparent hypothermia death last week, that happened about fifteen miles south of Havre on Bullhook Road. A press release says the victim was identified as 19 year-old Kyla Ashely Valdez from Havre.

On Thursday morning, Hill County Deputies located the missing female laying in a snow-covered ditch next to Bullhook Road. She was transported to Northern Montana Hospital and was later flown to Great Falls. Valdez died in the early morning hours of November 9th. It’s believed she died of exposure after she was intentionally abandoned on a rural road with inadequate clothing for the temperatures. Her body has been sent to the Montana State Crime Lab for an autopsy.

25 year-old Alaynna Gray from Havre has been charged with negligent homicide, DUI, and driving without a driver’s license.

The incident is still under investigation.
