Man Accused of Stealing Two Vehicles Pleads Not Guilty

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A man accused of stealing two vehicles in Havre last month appeared in Hill County District Court by video on Monday for his arraignment.

Isaac Chapa appeared by video and pled not guilty to two counts of felony theft.

According to court documents, on December 11, Chapa allegedly stole a 2007 Chevy pickup that was left running in the parking lot of Town Pump. On December 13, Chapa allegedly stole a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer that was left running outside the Palace Bar.

Chapa remains in the Hill County Detention Center on $35,000 bond.

Chapa’s counsel asked the court to release Chapa on his own recognizance. The court denied this request, and instead asked Chapa’s counsel to file a written motion for bail reduction.

A bail hearing is set for January 13th at 9 AM.

In March 2014, Chapa was sentenced to five years imprisonment after pleading guilty to one count of sexual assault, a felony.
