Chippewa Cree Tribe Rescinds Stage 1 Fire Restrictions

(Rocky Boy)

The Chippewa Cree Tribe has officially rescinded Stage 1 Fire Restrictions within the exterior boundaries of the Rocky Boy Reservation, effective 8:00 a.m. on September 8, 2026.

Wildfire risk indicators, including fuel moisture levels and temperatures, have improved, and regional and national firefighting resource availability has also increased. While Stage 1 Fire Restrictions have been lifted on the Rocky Boy Reservation, heightened restrictions may still be in effect on surrounding state and federal lands.

The public is encouraged to continue practicing safe and responsible fire behavior to help prevent unwanted wildfires.

This action was approved by Chairman Harlan Baker upon the recommendation of Fire Prevention Officer Samuel One Spot and Fire Management Officer Adrian Standing Rock.
