CHESTER, Mont. (NMB) – Like many other school districts across the Hi-Line, Chester-Joplin-Inverness reopened their doors to students on Wednesday, with COVID-19 precautions in place.
District Superintendent Tim Bronk says they had to adjust their mask policy on Tuesday evening, when Liberty County reached the four active case threshold for COVID-19 set by the Governor, but that students, staff and parents were understanding.
“Of course we had a plan in place, how we were going to roll if that all happened. But just to make that all happen right away, everyone had to adjust to the masks and all of that. But I think it went well, we had a few little hiccups along the way that we had to deal with, but overall it went well.”
When it comes to upcoming athletic events, Bronk says they will open them up to spectators.
“We are asking to minimize the amount of fans if you can, but we’re not restricting everybody. They will have to wear the face masks. We decided not to charge a gate fee for any of our activities, and we’re not doing concessions, primarily because of the exchange of money, we don’t want to be handling and dealing with that.”
CJI’s current enrollment is around 225 students. Bronk says under a half-dozen opted out of fully in-person learning, with some having collaborated with the district on creating personalized hybrid learning plans.
