(Montana) Montana Governor Greg Gianforte is ordering all flags in the state of Montana be flown at half-staff for May 15th, which is Peace Officers Memorial Day, from sunrise until sunset.
This day is just part of the entirety of Police Week, which runs from May 13th to May 19th. In recognition of this week, Governor Gianforte has also ordered the “Thin Blue Line” Flag, an American Flag that is black and white with a single blue stripe, to be flown at the State Capitol.
Police week originated in 1962 when then-President John F. Kennedy signed it into law designating whichever week May 15th fell on to be National Police Week.
