Havre, MT – The technical offseason for college rodeo is during the summer months between semesters. However summer weather provides an offseason unlike any other.
Lights and Skylights rodeo head coach Doug Kellenberger spoke with NMB sports about how his teams get better during those summer months without official team practices.
“We do have an offseason in the winter time. Right now it is really nice for them to rodeo all summer so there really is no offseason when they comeback to school… It’s a huge advantage for these kids to be able to rodeo all summer and really have no offseason and come right into the fall season swinging. Its really nice that way and its an aspect of rodeo.”
Lights and Skylights rodeo are now two weeks into the 2026 fall season and will be in Dillion, Montana for their third of four rodeos this fall.
