(NMB) The 2026 hunting season in Montana will see quite a few changes that outdoorsman will want to pay attention to. For the archery antelope hunter, one of those changes will come in District 3. Fish, Wildlife and Parks Region 6 Communications Education program manager Marc Kloker explains the change.
There’s a 900 tag which basically allows you to hunt in almost any district of the state with an archery antelope license starting in August and there’s 5600 of those. There was notice that there was a lot of folks hunting in region 3, which is just outside of Bozeman that were taking up a lot of those licenses, so to speak. What they did was separate region 3 out of that 5600 and they’re going to have their own pool of 500 licenses.”
All 2026 hunting and fishing changes come from legislation passed by the 2026 Montana Legislature and new regulations adopted by the FWP Commission.
Today March 1st is the first day people can buy their 2026 hunting and fishing licenses and apply for special draw licenses and permits
