Assistance Available for Those Struggling with Mental Health

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – As the COVID-19 pandemic drags on, local officials want the public to know there are numerous hotlines available for those struggling with mental health.

Marci Bergren of the Hill County Council on Aging says she has gotten several calls from people concerned of friends or family contemplating suicide.

“(The pandemic) seems to be taking a toll on everybody, especially my seniors, are getting very frustrated. And some of them are thinking they should just die, which to me, is very upsetting and frustrating. Trying to make sure they get the help they need is challenging.”

The Montana Suicide Prevention Line is 1-800-273-8255.

The Warm-Line for Seniors that are staying home and would like someone to talk to is 1-877-688-3377.

The Crisis Intervention Hotline and Warm-Line for non-emergency support for people 60 and older or those with disabilities is 1-800-971-0016.

Bergren also recommends that everyone check in on family and friends that may be feeling down by giving them a call.

“Contact people that aren’t getting out and talk to them. Make sure they are ok, both mentally and physically.”
