(BLM) As previously reported by New Media Broadcasters, the Bureau of Land Management North Central Montana District is burning woody hand piles in the Judith Mountains as a method of reducing the chances of wildfires in the area.
BLM’s official communications said because of heavy snowpack conditions in the Judith Mountains last week, the Bureau of Land Management’s North Central Montana District Fuels Management Program team completed 20 acres of pile burning at the Limekiln Pile burn project.
Further, the team will continue ignitions as they work towards completion of this approximately 358-acre fuels project, as weather and on-site fuel moistures permit safe operations and meet the appropriate treatment conditions.
While burns are happening, smoke will linger for several days in the area, which is about seven miles north of Lewistown.
